California State Capitol
: 10th St. between N and L St., Sacramento, (916) 324-0333. One of California's distinctive landmarks. Capitol Park surrounds the Capitol building with a 40-acre collection of trees from all over the world. Free guided tours of the Capitol are offered between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily.
California State Railroad Museum
: Second and "I" streets. Old Sacramento, (916) 445-7387. Largest and finest interpretive railroad museum in North America and the most visited in the world, housed in a six building complex located in Old Sacramento. Open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
Crocker Art Museum
: (916) 264-5423. http://www.crockerartmuseum.org. between 2nd and 3rd on "O" Street in downtown Sacramento. Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. The Golden State Museum

Old Sacramento
: (see map of location). One of the best attractions. 'Old Sacramento', is an authentic and functioning 19th century city that captures the spirit of the Gold Rush era. 'Old Sacramento' is a historic park.
Sutter's Fort State Historic Park
: 2701 L St. at 28th St., Sacramento; (916) 445-4422. The gold rush began here. This trading post was established in 1839. Today on living History Days, volunteers in period costumes re-create the atmosphere of 1846. Open daily 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
